Embedding Diversity & Equal Opportunity
Support for diversity is embedded in specific provisions within our Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Diversity Policy, Harassment Policy, and Human Rights Policy. Our Supplier Code also articulates essential aspects of the way we work, including the respect of and equal opportunity for our workforce and the avoidance of discrimination and harassment.
We actively endorse the Asanko Women in Mining, a chapter of Women in Mining, Ghana, dedicated to advancing women in mining and fostering gender diversity at the company. Moreover, we also support the Botae Pa Initiative, which empowers and educates women in local communities.
The Asanko Women in Mining (WIM) Chapter was established and officially launched in 2017 as an advocacy platform for women within the company and its surrounding communities. The vision of Asanko WIM is to foster the advancement of women at Asanko and within its catchment areas, with a focus on economic empowerment, health, and positive transformation at local, sub-regional, and regional levels.
Since its inception, Asanko WIM has enjoyed unwavering support from management, including the allocation of an annual budget to sustain its initiatives. Furthermore, Asanko WIM has become a key platform for corporate partners to contribute to Asanko’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, with many of these partners making significant donations in support of WIM’s CSR programs.
